Last week I was invited to attend the "Azerbaijan: Land of Tolerance" photography exhibition by the award-winning National Geographic photographer Reza Deghati at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Despite the high security demands at the UN due to the 68th General Assembly Session, I must say it was an artsy evening in the "Qatar Corner" in the United Nations secretary building hosted by UN Alliance of Civilizations together with the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Below you can find few "snapshots" from my iPhone that I have taken during the event:
"Land of Tolerance" showcases a series of photo reports on the Muslim, Orthodox, Protestant and Catholic Christian and Jewish communities of Azerbaijan, who cohabitate the same land for centuries. This unique exhibition sheds light on the incredible co-existence of diverse religious groups, all driven by the desire to share a mutual respect that is rarely seen in other countries.
